How it works
Real-time carpooling, step by step.
Leytgo connects a driver who is already making a trip with a passenger heading the same way. Here is what happens, from the published trip to arriving together.
Driver
Passenger
From one trip to a shared ride
The driver publishes a trip they are making anyway
Starting point, destination and departure time, and if needed the latest arrival time. The driver also sets the extra time they accept for a passenger: detour, pick-up and possible wait included.
The passenger says where and when
Where from, where to, when they can leave and, if needed, when they must arrive at the latest. They can accept a short walk to reach a meeting point on a driver's route.
Leytgo looks for a compatible trip
The matching checks the direction of travel, whether both can reach the meeting point, the pick-up time, the driver's extra time and the arrival limits. Once the driver has set off, it works from their current position and the part of the route still ahead.
The passenger sends a request
Before asking, they see the whole journey: the walk to the meeting point, the pick-up time, the drop-off and the final arrival. A compatible trip is not yet an accepted one: the driver decides.
The driver accepts or declines
Accepting means agreeing to precise terms: meeting point, times and constraints, the same ones the passenger saw. Before confirming, Leytgo checks again that the trip is still feasible. A seat can never be promised to two passengers at once.
They meet and ride together
Chat opens once the trip is agreed. The passenger walks to the meeting point, the driver picks them up on their route, and they arrive together: one car instead of two.
Leave now or a little later
Leytgo works for immediate departures and for departures within a one-hour window. When leaving a little earlier would find a match, the app suggests it.
A few rules that never change
- The driver's destination stays the driver's. A passenger request is an option they can decline.
- The meeting point is on the driver's route, within the walking distance the passenger accepts.
- Every time shown includes the walk and the possible wait.
- Nothing is accepted on anyone's behalf: both agree explicitly to the same terms.
- A trip is shown as confirmed only once it really is.
Next: carpooling and public transport
On the Leytgo roadmap: one carpool segment combined with walking and metro, tram or train, in a single journey. Walk to a meeting point, ride for the stretch transit does not serve well, then continue by public transport.
FAQ
Questions,
answered.
Do I need to plan my trip in advance?
No. Leytgo is built for everyday trips, including right when you leave. You can also choose a departure within the next hour.
Does the driver have to change their destination?
No. The driver keeps their own destination. Leytgo only proposes passengers whose meeting point fits within the extra time the driver accepts, and the driver can decline any request.
How is the meeting point chosen?
It is on the driver's route, within the walking distance the passenger accepts. The walk and the possible wait are counted in the times both of them see.
Is Leytgo available now?
Leytgo is in development. The Android and iPhone apps are being field-tested around Brussels ahead of a public launch.
